For week of 5 – 11 May

Read Exodus 24:1-18

  • Twice in chapter 24, the Israelites solemnly promised to do everything the LORD had said (vv. 3, 7). Was this a promise of genuine obedience?
  • Why was the blood (vv. 6-8) such an important part of the confirmation ceremony of the covenant?
  • The glory of the LORD was manifested at the conclusion of the formal giving of the law and the commandments. It was also manifested after the Tabernacle was built (see 40:34–38). Did these two revelations of God differ at all?

Prayer Points

  • Pray that the current heat wave in Southeast Asia will come to an end soon, as it has, among other ill effects, compelled schools to close, and caused a surge in cases of dengue fever and deaths from heatstroke.
  • Pray for those among us who are ill or in grief over the loss of a loved one. May God grant healing, comfort and assurance to them in this period of need, and may He also empower the church to reach out to them with love, care and sensitivity.
  • Thank God for the 17 people, including several non-believers/seekers, who have signed up for the Christianity Explained course (4 Apr-9 May). Pray for an open mind and a receptive heart, as they go through the course, so that they will grow in their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and in their knowledge of Him.
  • Pray for wisdom and guidance on the congregation as they prepare themselves for the forthcoming election of elders and deacons.
