God did not intend to confine Christianity within the four walls of church buildings. Rather, He gave us vocations not just to make a living, but to be salt and light in the world. The marketplace is an arena for Christian witness, ministry, and mission.
In our talk, we will discuss the nature of the marketplace as a confluence of activities related to education, business, politics, government, and law. Christians should be alert to the fact that the modern marketplace is not ideologically or morally neutral. Moreover, it is influenced by worldviews that conflict with the biblical worldview. Therefore, we need to be able to discern these worldviews in light of biblical truth.
Secondly, we will discuss the role of Christians in the marketplace as those who point to Jesus Christ in a humble manner. To do this in harmony with the Religious Maintenance Act of Singapore, Christians need to embody certain distinctives that set us apart from the secular world. We will also consider how to “incarnate” Jesus in practical ways.
