From Singles to Spouses

We will look at 1 Corinthians 7 on Christian singleness, dating and marriage. What does Paul have to say about the state of singleness in the Christian life? What does he say about Christian marriage? Around the world today, we see a cultural shift in the way people view these realities, contributing to confusion and misunderstanding. Pastor John Piper writes, ‘It seems to me that we are trying to avoid a misunderstanding on two fronts. The one front is the misunderstanding of marriage as bondage and oppression, and on the other front is the misunderstanding of singleness as liberation and freedom.’ Our talk seeks to bring clarity to (1) a biblical understanding of singleness, and (2) a biblical understanding of marriage. The talk will conclude by giving some practical advice on being prepared to enter into healthy dating relationships.
