At the very end of His life, Jesus said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit” (Luke 23:46). This statement is quoted by Jesus from Psalm 31 verse 5a, “Into your hands I commit my spirit.” King David was often in trouble. This verse reflects deep and personal trust in God amid the depths of difficulty.
Jesus entrusted His life completely to His Heavenly Father, even when He was facing a gruesome death on the cross. That is why we too can fully trust in God’s grace no matter what happens in our life, even when we cannot fully understand it. We can entrust our life to our Heavenly Father, to whom Jesus also entrusted His life to.
The apostle Peter encourages believers, “So then those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good” (1 Peter 4:19). The COVID-19 pandemic shows us that our hands cannot control everything, including our life. Only to God’s hands can we entrust everything to, including our life. Jesus entrusted His life to His Father and the result is eternal life for you and me.
A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan’s hands
Is worth about $33 million.
It depends Whose hands it’s in.
A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses’ hands
Will part the mighty sea.
It depends Whose hands it’s in.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God’s hands will feed thousands.
It depends Whose hands it’s in.
Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.
Nails in Jesus Christ’s hands
Will produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends Whose hands it’s in.

In whose hands are we entrusting our life to?
