Has Anything Changed?

By Not Known

During the last month we have focused on the work of God’s outreach through missions and evangelism.

Has anything changed?

We have done Bible Studies and heard sermons around different aspects of the outreach task. We have learned how God commands us to take his message to all people, that he promises to empower us for this task and that he can use all of us.

Has anything changed?

We have seem missionary exhibits showing different ways in which outreach can be done. We have heard from grassroots members of our own church about their involvement in outreach.

Has anything changed?

The above activities have addressed our minds and perhaps changed them. But the attitudes of our hearts are the key (Pro 4:23). Scripture speaks of God’s heartfelt passion to do outreach (e.g. Ezk 18: 23; 1 Tim 2:4; Luk 15:7,10,32). God’s inward pleasure, desire and joy is that people should repent and believe. This inward passion of God lead to his outward action of sending his Son and his Spirit to give effect to his outreach.

Has anything changed?

How about us? Outreach month will soon be forgotten as we move into the anniversary activities and then towards school holidays and Christmas. Perhaps our consciences have been pricked and we will be more active in outreach for a little while, for example by inviting someone to the November outreach service. But, then what?

What about our attitudes and passions? Are we so concern or God’s glory that we want to tell all of his amazing grace and powerful deeds to save? Do we have such love for our neighbours that we push through our inward barriers to share the message of Jesus?

Has anything changed? Have your mind changed? Has your heard changed? Are your actions changed?
