Myanmar Church Planting

 ORPC supports 2 church plants in Myanmar starting with Mandalay in April 2013 and Yangon shortly thereafter.

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;

   my God turns my darkness into light

psalm 18:28

ORPC supports 2 church plants in Myanmar starting with Mandalay in April 2013 and Yangon shortly thereafter. These are house churches which minister to the neighbourhood around them. Their mission is to win souls for Christ by reaching out to the community through worship services, Bible study groups, prayer meetings, children ministry, prayer walks around the community and providing social care.

Bible preaching conferences are held from time to time to equip the pastors as well as pastors from the other states in preaching methodology and skills.

The congregational size of the house churches remains relatively small but stable as there are uphill challenges facing the pastors in reaching out to the neighbourhood in a predominantly Buddhist population where Christians form a mere 6.3% of the total population with the largest concentrations of Christians in the northerly mountainous states. The location of the 2 church plants Yangon (3.2% Christians) and Mandalay (1.1% Christians) is suited to reach out to non-Christians in these cities.

The Covid pandemic situation is severe and hurting the poor families, as such ORPC is presently organizing distribution of rice and other daily essentials to help relieve the hardship faced by the community.

Please pray for our house church plants in Mandalay and Yangon, that God will watch over them and pray for our pastors as they minister to their community, that they will persevere in these difficult times and pray for God’s provisions to sustain the livelihood of the community.
