First of three October 2018 SoCM Sunday talks

Who are we as the church? What is the purpose of our existence? The answer to those questions depends on what story you are part of. We will examine Exodus 19:1-6 to see the self-identity of the Israelites as God’s chosen people when they received the law at Mount Sinai. What can Christians learn from the covenant that God made with Israel regarding our self-identity and our participation in God’s mission on earth?

Second of three October 2018 SoCM Sunday talks.

Does God have a mission, a plan, or a purpose that he himself is working toward? What is the grand metanarrative of the Bible? In Ephesians 1:9-10, one of the most succinct definitions of mission, Paul says: “(God has) made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfilment— to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” This talk will help us to gain a better understanding on the whole teaching of the Bible on the mission that God has entrusted to the church.

Date: Sunday 14 Oct 2018

We will examine Matthew 28:18-20, concerning Christ’s Great Commission and its application to the various challenges facing the church today.
